On a day as bitter as today, I have to start this up. Consider the gauntlet thrown for those of you who live in colder places than MI in the winter. This morning it was SO COLD that I went to open the garage door and the spring that opens it had frozen and snapped in half. Now I can't get my car out of the garage until I replace the spring (or the whole unit?). The actual temp was -4 last night. It was a balmy 1 when I tried to open the door and it snapped. How cold is it where you are??

Today is a balmy 30 degrees. I'm sick of it but I'll take it!
I better not tell you that I could almost run around in a T-Shirt today?
:P
Last night we had -20 C temps with a wind child of - 30 C - sorry I don't know Farenheit. I was stuck driving in whiteout conditions for 5 hours! It was joyous let me tell you.
It's actually just a little bit on the Springish side here.
*ducks*
DMD - I did a conversion and it seems that -20 C = -4 F and our wind chill was -25 F which = -32 C.
We have the exact same weather!
I'm sorry you had to drive in whiteout conditions for 5 hours - I've done that before and hope to never repeat.
Okay, at the risk of hate mail, I'll tell you. It gets down to the high 30s at night, and it will be almost 70 today. I worked in the yard in a t-shirt this weekend (and pants, of course -- I'm not an exhibitionist).
BUT
talk to me in July when we've had 10 consecutive days of 100+, without the low, low humidity of the desert to keep us sane. It's all relative.
Sorry you're stuck in the garage.
Weather envy of those of you on the west coast? Yes, today. Then again, I would never in a million years trade my winters for Foolery's summers, so I shouldn't complain much. Those of you in places like Vancouver on the other hand...ah, if only... :)
I would like to compliment MIQ on your excellent internet connection in the garage. Let me know if you need me to come over and bust you out.
DMD -- glad you made it home safely! Blizzard driving is not fun.
Yup, a positive 4 degrees today. I haven't opened the garage all day!
Over here it's about 45°F. Unseasonably warm for Belgium, but I'll take it! And yeah, bike riding is very common in Gent, where I live. I'm an expat so it's taking me a while to get used to no car, but I feel better too.
I saw your comment on Cable Girl's blog. Just saying hi from a fellow (freezing) Michigander! Great blog!
Simply balmy at about 8 degrees above.
I'm glad to report that we're finally out of our 3-week -40 deep-freeze (that's in either Celsius OR Fahrenheit!) Yesterday it warmed up to -20C (-4 F) and today is a gorgeously sunny -10 (14 F). Thank goodness we won't have to wrestle with the car battery freezing up again tonight.
Hi Jen, Nice to see you here!
Fawn, you totally win the prize for longest cold snap recorded here. Makes me feel pretty wimpy for shivering in 8 degrees (around -15 in celcius?).
Do you really want to know? It's even warmer here than wherever Foolery is - 78 today I think. And rarely humid. Maybe 115 degrees in the summer isn't so bad after all. Actually it is. I'll just enjoy today and not think about that.
i grew up in MI and was happy to move out to a warmer state. ;) in CO it was in the 50s today but we'll be back in the 20s with snow tomorrow. took the kids to the park today to enjoy the warmth while it lasted. ;)
