In My Garden Yesterday (Photo Hunt: Thirteen)

Exploring with my new camera and my macro lens, I decided the only way to meet the challenge of "thirteen" was to offer thirteen visions of what you can see in my garden right now. The garden overall still gives the impression of brownish dormancy. Most of the flowers have not bloomed. But up close, and in detail, here is what you'll find pushing its way up through the mulch, stretching forth towards the sun. Even the plants that are just leaves now have textures and shapes so lovely...and they carry the promise of wonderful bloom.

TULIP

BLEEDING HEART
CROCUS

SEDUM

WEEPING CHERRY BUDS

CROCUS

BELLFLOWER LEAVES

PERIWINKLE

HUECHERA (CORAL BELLS)

GROUND COVER

DAFFODIL

COLUMBINE

HYACINTH

And what I've learned from this exercise is that when I'm feeling a little blue, and wishing spring would burst forth more quickly, it's really worth looking up close once in a while.

I thought that was great my fav was the Crocus since we do not seem to have those here in Tx and the Daffodils and tulips are all past we are knocking on summers door.

What a beautiful garden!! Yes, I would definitely walk through there when I'm feeling blue ... in fact, do you mind if I come over now? *grin*

Thanks for making me smile. Now if my lap top had smell it'd be a perfect visit!

Lovely! I have a hard time believing the whole picture would still "gives the impression of brownish dormancy" with all those lovely colours! It's fun to observe the kinds of things we both have in our gardens: tulips, crocii(?), and columbines, but only our columbines are as far along as yours. But then, we got a few inches of snow last weekend! Just winter blowing itself out for the last time, I hope!

Awesome pics! Tulips are my fave.
Was going to head to Plymouth today, but I'm keeping the recovering children in town ... will let you know next time - maybe we can come admire your garden!

Thanks, everyone, for admiring my garden. I spent most of the day yesterday pulling out the dry stalks from fall that were serving as natural insulation against the cold nights. And I actually -gasp- put down mulch in all the beds. Between that and two days of very sunny weather, all the daffodils have finally opened -- and it finally looks like spring here! Hooray!

Amy, the "green thumb" only comes from trial and error. If I had taken pictures of all the plants I killed over the years, the theme for the week would have had to be 937 (or something like that). It's all about the trying...and starting small. :)

Oh, I can't WAIT! We still have snow on the ground, but I'm dying to get out and start digging in the dirt. Your photos are gorgeous.
