Learning to Climb Trees: Beautiful

This weeks' photo hunt topic is "beautiful" -- so of course you know every parent out there is going to post pictures of his or her kids. I'm no different. Shamelessly so. Here are two photos of Son and Daughter working hard to learn tree climbing techniques in a Philadelphia park on our recent vacation.

I love the concentration on Son's face...

and the enjoyment of the breeze on daughter's.

Their pleasure in the simple activities of childhood -- climbing trees, getting muddy, finding a crawdad in the creek -- reminds me every day that beauty is in our perceptions.

Seriously gorgeous!

This makes me want to go climb a tree . . . right now.

There is a lot I miss, but am so excited to share it all again with J! Makes it all the more richer!

Awww, your kids are adorable. They look about the age of mine, but mine are reversed in age.
Thanks for sharing.

When you have those two beautiful faces in your life, who wouldn't want to show them off? :)

Reminds me of taking walks with my children. They stop to look at everything pointing out this and that. Most are things I would miss because I'm too busy walking ahead. If it weren't for them I'd miss the beauty of what's right next to me.

Eloquently and beautifully put! Today, we climbed rocks. Big rocks. And seeing my children conquer new heights was soooo wonderful for me!

And yep, Brillig was a sweetie. But as for the politics? Well, it was tough not to get swept up in it all. I like Barak as a person. He's dynamic and amiable. But we're not electing a friend so we'll see how the debates go!

Hi, MT! I know lots of people love you and you've already got lots of awards, but when I was choosing blogs for the "I (Heart) Your Blog" award, I just couldn't pass over yours. :) If you choose to accept the award (it will not self-destruct) you can come grab it over at my place.

Thank you all so much for your nice words.

Laskigal, I know exactly what you mean: I wished the trees were bigger myself so that I could climb them too.

Suz, that's fun! I wish you were closer. Playdate?

All Adither, Amber, Cocoa, Fawn, isn't it wonderful to be so lucky in our children and the perspectives they give us? Many thanks, too, Fawn.
